Textbook: Fundamentals of Statistical and Thermal Physics
by Fred Reif, Waveland Press, Inc.
Other texts: For lectures and problem sets we will also draw from
Kittel and Kromer's Thermal Physics,
Fermi's Thermodynamics, and
Schroeder's Thermal Physics

Homework
Homework is always due on Mondays at the start of class (10 AM)
or in the undergraduate physics office before that time. I will bring
the tray from the office to class. The final homework grade
will be based on the sum of your scores on all problems. Late homework
will lose 20% of the score per day!
You are encouraged to work with your colleagues on the homework
however the work you hand in must be your own. Submitting a copy of another's
work is not acceptable!
Exams
There will be a 2 hour midterm and a 3 hour final.
Grading
Homework: 28%, Class participation: 2%, Midterm: 30%, Final: 40%
